Prohibited Items
Some items cannot be pre-ordered from the USA at all — not a ShopUSA policy, but air-safety rules (IATA), Kenyan customs law, and US export law that apply to anyone shipping these things. Review this list before asking us to price something.
Lithium batteries & power banks
Loose batteries and power banks can overheat and are forbidden on passenger flights (IATA UN3090/UN3480).
Examples: Power banks, loose lithium/lithium-ion batteries
Alcohol
Alcoholic drinks of any kind cannot be shipped by any carrier.
Examples: Beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, liquor
CBD & cannabis
Any cannabis-derived product, with or without THC.
Examples: CBD oil, CBD capsules, cannabidiol products
Illegal drugs
Drug-related items restricted or banned under US and Kenyan law.
Examples: Narcotics, marijuana, drug paraphernalia
Guns & weapons
Firearms, firearm parts, and anything designed to inflict harm.
Examples: Firearms, ammunition, stun guns, pepper spray, swords, daggers, brass knuckles
Military, tactical & police gear
Equipment associated with military or law-enforcement use.
Examples: Body armor, gas masks, handcuffs, night-vision equipment
Explosives
Anything that can explode or combust.
Examples: Fireworks, firecrackers, flares, airbag inflators
Tobacco, vapes & nicotine
Nicotine in any form.
Examples: Vapes/e-cigarettes, cigars, cigarettes, shisha
E-bikes & e-scooters
Battery-powered personal transporters over 100Wh cannot ship by air.
Examples: Electric bikes, electric scooters
Flammable items
Items that ignite easily.
Examples: Matches, lighter fluid
Hazardous chemicals & poisons
Items that can corrode, poison, or otherwise cause harm.
Examples: Fire extinguishers, antifreeze, drain cleaner, bleach
Ivory & animal products
Tusks and other protected-animal products.
Examples: Elephant/animal tusk items
Adult & obscene articles
Obscene articles are prohibited under Kenyan customs law. (Condoms, lingerie, menstrual products and pregnancy tests are not affected — those are ordinary medical/hygiene items.)
Examples: Sex toys, BDSM gear
Satanic & witchcraft items
Not carried, as a company policy.
Examples: Occult/witchcraft items
Other items may also be restricted depending on what they are — these are reviewed individually rather than listed here. If something you ask for can't be shipped, we'll tell you straight away rather than take your money for it.
